Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint Review. With third person tactical shooters so rare, Breakpoint served as a scratch to that itch. a decent tactical shooter that has a bloated open world and a less than scintilating narrative that did nothing to create urgency. the inventory system and progression is too much and a pure focus on the great moment to moment gameplay would have served the game best. 7/10.

Sony has let many of their first party studios branch out from their franchises that built them and while Ghost of Tsushima isn't a huge departure from Sucker Punch’s previous open world fare, the genre and aesthetic couldn’t be more different. Ghost of Tsushima succeeds on nearly every level even if it doesn't provide anything ground breaking the genre hasn't seen before.

Nothing can sour the experience that a player is meant to have where character repercussions blur the line between who and what is right or warranted. With gameplay that is much more fluid and encounters even more harrowing, The Last of Us Part II is worth the wait.

When Final Fantasy VII Remake was first announced most would have easily been happy with a slight upgrade in graphics telling the exact same story with the same gameplay that is beloved. And yet this is the best possible scenario for a remake and it only tells a small albeit significant part of the story.

The Outer Worlds is the spiritual successor to Fallout: New Vegas and includes all the trapping you’d expect, with humor both light and dark, more vibrant character designs and specific area targeting on enemies. It’s all solid, if you like that sort of thing, but the loose controls and blank main character isn’t for everyone.

Horizon Zero Dawn combined great storytelling with an intricate plot complete with twists and simple yet varied gameplay to create an absolutely breathtaking game. Guerilla Games has made an incredible change of direction coming from the Killzone series to this.

A great plot with some melodramatic storytelling brings the game down slightly, but the moment to moment gameplay of hacking and slashing, twin-stick shooting and side-scrolling action all create a game that makes it feel like every section is an homage to a bygone era.

Despite a slow start, dated gameplay mechanics and a protagonist who is just around for the ride most of the story, Red Dead Redemption 2 so perfectly hits every other mark that they do nothing to takeaway from the game.

Spider-Man on the PlayStation 4 perfectly captures what it'd be like to be the web slinging wall crawler and expands and improves upon preexisting mythos to create one of the best games of the generation

For some, God of War's formula had grown tiresome by Ascension on the PS3. It was more of the same and even with the solid gameplay it needed an influx of fresh ideas to keep players interested.

Uncharted 4 has everything you'd want from the next iteration of the series; a game engine refined, lush and beautiful graphics and a story that concludes the Nathan Drake saga.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD ditches the turn-based style of most of the franchise entries for straight action-oriented gameplay & a vast array of characters. The setting & downtime between missions may put some players off, but the fast paced combat & mature story is more than enough to keep the game interesting

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt completes the series with its first entry on a Sony console. Controls & presentation are among the best of the generation.

Some flaws prevent it from being a terrific experience: directionless exploration & minimal storytelling but Hyper Light Drifter is a must play.

Until Dawn finds more gameplay variety combined with its stellar cinematic influence than most others, especially in the adventure genre it occupies.

Helldivers is one in a long line of recent twin stick shooters, and also one of the best in a genre striving for AAA status. 

The Order: 1886 features Arthurian knights fighting mythical beasts set in a steam-punkish version of London that doesn't quite meet expectations.

Batman: Arkham Knight is the first Arkham game developed for the latest generation but the extra horsepower hasn't led to a jump in gameplay.
